San Miguel is one of the Yucatan Peninsula's oldest haciendas, it was built in the sixteenth century, just a few years after the foundation of the city of Valladolid in 1542. When Gaspar González, conqueror of Valladolid, receives from the Spanish Crown the title of a huge extension of land surrounding the town of Pixoy.
And in the year of 1606, his son Esteban González de Nájera inherits the property from his father, and acquires the "Uayma" becoming the owner of the whole western portion
of town.

Centuries XVII and XVIII went by with no records of evolution, but it's growth was evident as we can tell by the remaining vestiges that show the dimension that it reached judging by the number of homes. It was 1847 (nineteenth century) when San Miguel
appears once again on military records during the "Guerra de Castas" (War of Chastes),
talking about cruel battles that took place right on the hacienda, indicating that San Miguel was taken by the rebels, who sacrificed the population and burned down the whole complex.
It was never known if the owners fled or were killed with the rest of the people.

It is possible that, just like Valladolid, Tihosuco and other nearby villages, San Miguel would have remained inhabited and forgotten until the turn of the century.
At the beginning of the XX century, the new owner Doctor Adolfo Patrón Martínez, a well known businessman from Yucatan, rebuilds the hacienda. But in 1910 an enemy group of the dictator Porfirio Diaz regime, rise up in arms leaving Valladolid under siege.
Because San Miguel had telephone service since then, it became the point of communication with the city of Merida, this shows the importance that it already had as a production center.
Continuing with the history of Hacienda San Miguel, the central house that we enjoy today, it's the same where Doctor Alfonso Patrón Martínez used to live, with a few modifications for its conservation, but it is basically the same at your service now days
